Dearness allowance is a part of salary, which is given to compensate for the fluxuation of essential commodities. The compensation is provided for price rise twice in a year to all Central Government employees and pensioners too.
The estimation of hike in Dearness allowance in accordance with the price index of AICPIN (IW) 2001=100. This statistics is being calculated by Labour Bureau and publishing every month authentically in its website. This index is the main factor to calculate the Dearness allowance.
The calculation is being completed after six months, at present we have the index for five months only. Last and 6th month of index number is needed to finalize the calculate the additional Dearness allowance from July 2012, but, however, the Dearness allowance should not be increased above 72% at this moment.
